Spirit Week

This past week (March 29-April 3) was Spirit Week at our school. Sweet mercy of snickerdoodles, it was amazing! This year, it was Lord of the Rings themed, so we each had mascots and colors--faculty were wizards (blue), sophomores were dwarfs (yellow), juniors were elves (green), and seniors were Sauron (red). It was incredible!

Classes on Friday--due to the Spirit Bowl assembly--were shortened to an hour. During second period, my fitness teacher let us out a little early and some students stopped us in the halls to give us yellow ribbons and paint our faces.

As the sophomores, juniors and faculty all filed into the field house for the assembly, I couldn't help but notice from my high perch on the bleachers that there was a stunning lack of seniors. After everyone had arrived--except the seniors--there was a moment of silence in all the conversations. Suddenly, loud, dramatic Lord of the Rings music blared through the field house, and the sounds of pounding footsteps and yells echoed through the field house.

Well. Let's just say that was incredible.

This happened :) Bubble soccer!!! The juniors almost got disqualified because they were being so violent! The entire Spirit Bowl, we were laughing and cheering and chanting things at the juniors and seniors. At the finish, the outcome was expected: Seniors won, juniors second, sophomores third, faculty fourth.

I think I'm pretty darn lucky to go to such a wonderful school.

With love,
